 Chapter 17

The guard enters the hut, "good they are sleeping, and we can bring in the male now."Said the guard to the others. They nod their head as they help the young male into the hut and help him to lie down before they give him the final shot before they leave. We woke up at once expect for the new male. "It looks like we got a new male."I said as I check him over. "He will sleep for awhile before he comes around."Said Xuan as he moves him into a comfortable position.

 

I notice the guards entering with our food. We ate in silence before the guards came to take the plates away. "Baxter you are going to stay here."Said the guard as he takes the others to work. I kept my eye on him and I notice his eyes are still open, but cloudy as well. The guards brought me food and I ate after I was done I check on the male and I notice his eyes are closed. After awhile the others are back. "Any news on the male?" Asks Yakov. "He is still unconscious."I said.

 

"It might take awhile before he comes around."Said Cyan as he looks at him. The guards bring our food and blood. "I wonder what happen to him when he sees us drinking blood."I ask the others. "Hard to say. I am sure the Master and Mistress will explain it to him."Said Deon as he drinks his blood. "I am sure you are right, they might want him to be a vampire as well."I said as we stand in our spots as the sleeping elixir starts, we fall asleep quickly.

 

I won't tell you what has happen during the three days that the young male is with us. After I woke up I notice he is coming around. "Here drink this; it will help with the elixirs."I said to him as I help him to drink the water."Don't try to talk go to sleep."I said to him as he goes back to sleep. I notice the others are coming around. "He is awake but he is sleeping now." I said to the others. "OK, here comes food."Said Alex as he notices the guards bringing the food.

 

We ate in silence and we put the plates back the Guards tells Deon to stay with the new male. The guards bring us to the work area. I notice Valin and Zeger are there but not in the deep trance. I look at Alex puzzled; I know Alex will tell me when he can. The guards bring us to our work area and we start to work. After the tens hours we have our shower and brought into a room. I see the Master and the Mistress there.

 

"The male that is with you will know that you are vampires and he will understand what will happen if he doesn't follow instructions, if he behaves and follow orders he might turn into a vampire." said the Master to us. I was in shock to hear this but I kept quiet. We all nodded our heads in agreement what he said. He motions the guards to bring us back to our hut.

 

Once inside I explain to Deon what the Master said to us. "He is awake now; I have explained what we do."Said Deon. "Can you tell us your name?"I asked him. "Cole."Replies Cole to us. Alex explains about the elixirs that we get and the other stuff as well. I notice the door opening and the Master enters the hut.

 

"Glad you are awake." said the Master as Cole kept quiet as the Master continues to tell him about us. He was in shock to hear this. "Baxter shows him your teeth."Asks the Master to me. I nodded my head as I open my mouth and showed him my teeth. He looks at them as the Master tells him what will happen if he doesn't follow orders. He nods his head as he understand what the Master is said. "You will be going to work with them tomorrow, they will show you what to do and what will happen to you if you try to escape." said The Master as he leaves.

 

"What does he meant by that?"Asks Cole to us. I explained what we do in the tunnels and what he will see as well. "Here comes supper."Said Deon as he notices the door is opening. The guards put down the plates and blood, they leave we grab food and blood. "It will take me awhile to see you all drink blood."Said Cole as he starts to eat. "It did for us as well."I said to him. Alex explains after eating we get the sleeping elixir and where we stand as well. He nods his head as he eats. After we are done we put the plates back where we got them and stand in different spots. "It does work fast."I said before I pass out.

 

We all woke up at the same time. "You are right Baxter it does work fast."Said Cole as he stands up and he does a stretch. "Sometimes there is a scent one that knocks us out, we us sly keep standing we might collapse during that one or we might get it in the food which knocks us out really fast."Yakov said to Cole. Xuan explains about the exercise they have and sometimes experiment on new elixirs as well.

 

The guards bring us our food and we ate in silence after we are done the guards bring us to our work area. I notice Cole is looking at Valin and Zeger as we walk by. He kept quite as we walk by; I still notice them they are not in the deep trance as before. I showed Cole what to do and what to look for; he nods his head as he understands what to do. We worked until lunch time and the guards bring us to the area where we eat.

 

"Alex, how come Valin and Zeger are not in the deep trance?" I asked Alex. "The Master is trying something new on them. That is all we know."Replies Alex. I notice Cole's confused look. I explain what Valin has been doing same with Zeger. He was shock to hear this but he understands that we don't want to do anything with him. "Time to work."Said the Guard as we got up and went back to work.

 

After we are done working the guards bring us to the showers and sprays us with water, then we brought back to our huts. "That is hard work."Said Cole as he rubs his shoulders. "It is, you will get used to it."Said Cyan. "There is no work tomorrow it is exercise time."Said the Mistress over the speaker. "When we get the exercise we don't get the sleeping elixir it might conflict with the elixirs that we get tomorrow."Said Alex to Cole.

 

I explain what happen to us before."We have no idea what they will do each time it is different one."I said to Cole. "I understand, at least we can run before they knock us out."Said Cole. "Yes, the elixirs are pretty fast, we watch the other huts as well. My guessing they are doing Valin and Zeger first."Said Xuan as he lies down. We followed him as we go to sleep.

 

We woke up at the same time and the guards bring us our food and we ate in silence before they take us to the field. They motion us to sit down on the chairs. We sat and I see Valin and Zeger in the field. The Master explains what is going on. The Mistress hits the buzzer and Zeger and Valin starts to run around the field in separate directions. After awhile I see some walls pop up that separates Valin and Zeger. They didn't notice the walls until Valin runs into one.

 

He gets up and starts to run again. More walls pop up making the room smaller. After awhile both Zeger and Valin are in the boxes, I could tell they couldn't move at all. I hear them banging on the walls. I notice the Master pushes some buttons that is near him. Whatever the elixir is doing it making Valin and Zeger stopping banging the walls. Few minutes later the wall comes down and I notice Valin and Zeger are in some of trance.

 

I notice some guards coming behind Valin and Zeger giving them a shot of something that keeps the in the trance. They start to sway a bit before the Master turns on the next elixir, it takes effect real fast before they collapse out cold. I see the guards entering the field and caring Valin and Zeger out of the field. It takes awhile to get the other males in the same way, they are doing two at a time. After awhile our hut was the last one to go, the guards take Alex and Cyan into the field. We watch going the same as the others, after awhile it was Cole and my turn the guard takes us to the field.

 

The Mistress hits the buzzer and we run in different directions. I notice the walls are coming up blocking Cole and me. I continue to run and noticing the walls are going closer. After awhile I am in a box, I started banging the walls even I know it won't. I smell a scent that is making me dizzy and lightheaded as well. My arms are feeling like lead and the drop to my sides as I go into the trance. I am able to see the walls, I notice the walls are coming down and I see the guards are coming towards me and give me the shot to keep me in the trance. The Master turns on the other elixir which knocks us out really quickly.

 

The guards enter and check us over before they carry us back to our huts. "They are out cold they will be like that for awhile." said the Guard to the Master. "OK, keep an eye on them as well."Said the Master to the guards. We all slept for a week before we start to come around. Once we are all awake we stand up and do some stretches.

 

"That was weird, I could see and hear what is going on but I couldn't move."Said Cole. "I agree, they do different every time."Said Alex as the others nod their heads in agreement. The door opens and the guards bring us food. We ate in silence once we are done we put the plates back we were we got them. Once the guards came to take the plates they tell us to line up and follow them. We did what they asked and the lead us to work area.

 

They bring us where we work and we started to work, digging for more jewels. After awhile we felt the ground moving. We stopped to see what happens before we start again. I notice the guards are looking as well. It didn't last long until the guard tells us to leave the area. We did what they asked and saw the ceiling gave away. The guards bring us to the eating area. I just look at the others to see what they are looking at.

 

After awhile the Master arrives. "What happen?"Asks the Master to the guards, they tell him what is happened in the work area and about the ceiling. "Baxter is that true."He asks me "Yes, after the guards tell us to move the ceiling collapsed."I replied to the Master. I felt the ground move again when we're with the Master. "What is causing this?"Asks the Master.

 

"My guess is somewhere it is having an earthquake and we are feeling it."I said as I try to keep my balance. "Look out."Yells a guard as he notices a wall that is coming down. Everyone expects for Cole and I got away in time. Part of the wall landed on Cole and me. I felt a pain in my leg as well. I try to move as well. "Baxter don't move, a piece of metal went through your leg." said Deon as he looks at me. I stopped moving when I heard that. "Are you able to stop the bleeding?"Asks the Master. "Yes, I can." said Cyan as he finds a clean cloth and ties it around my wound.

 

"What about Cole?" I asked the others. "He is unconscious; he will be OK once we get the walls off you two."Said Alex. I just nodded my head as I start feeling the pain from my leg. "Guard get the Doctor here."Said the Master as a guard takes off. "Are you able to get the walls off them?"Asks the Master. "Yes, we can, the metal has to stay in Baxter until the Doctor checks him over."Said Yakov as they start working on the walls.

 

I am starting to feel light headed while they are working. "Baxter looks like he is going to pass out."Said Xuan as he notices how pale I become. "You need to stay awake Baxter."Said Alex as he makes me talking to them until the Doctor is there. The Master tells what happen while the Doctor checks me over.

 

"Don't move anything off Baxter until I sedate him, the wall is helping to slow down the blood."Said the Doctor as he full a needle that he gives me, I pass out real fast. "Once the wall is off him I need to operate on him to take out the rod and fix anything else that he got when the wall fall on top of him. He will survive but he won't able to work for awhile. Cole will be sore once he is awake. "Said the Doctor as we continue to lift the walls off us.

 

After awhile we are clear from the fallen wall and the Doctor takes Cole and me away. "I just check outside and nearby there is no damage there." said a Guard to the Master. "OK, Alex you and the others are going to check here for what cause the ground to move, I am going to put the other males back into the huts so you and your roommates can look around." said the Master. Alex nods his head in agreement as the Master and the some of the guards leave.

 

Few minutes later the guards came back and we start to look for what caused the wall to collapse and the other tremors we felt. "You are allowed to talk as well."Said the Guard to Alex. They start looking for what stuff they think that cause the cave in. "It looks like these chains are cut."Said Deon as he notices the chains that kept Valin and Zeger in place. "You are right, keep looking." said the Guard as he takes the chains from Deon.

 

After awhile Alex found a torch that was able to cut the chains. "I found the torch that cut the chains."Said Alex to one of the guards as he hands the torch over to him. The guard takes it and exams it. "You could be right."Said the guard. After awhile they couldn't find any more around the room. "I think you have found everything that you can find."Said the guard as he leads them back to their hut.

 

Once they are back in they see Cole is back. "I am glad you are back, how you feeling?"Asks Deon. "A bit sore, what happened?"Cole asks them Cyan tells him what happen to him and Baxter. Cole is shock to hear this. "I am hoping Baxter will get better." said Cole. The others agree to this.

 

Four weeks went by before I return to the hut. The guards help me to walk inside once inside they help me to sit down. "You are spared for working until your leg is healed up."Said the guard as they leave. I notice the room is empty as I get a bit more comfy. After awhile I see the door opening and Alex and the others are returning. They see me sitting there. Once the door close they sat down. "You look beat."I said to them. "We are, we are looking for Valin and Zeger. They somehow got a torch and cut the chains and escaped."Said Yakov. I was in shocked to hear this. I told them what the guard told me.

 

"Every hut is taking turns to looking for Valin and Zeger."Said Cole. "I sure don't want to know what will happen to them once they are caught."I said to the others. "My guess we will. Here comes supper."Said Xuan as he notices the door opening. The guards bring in the food and blood. Cole brought my food and blood. I ate and drank the blood. "I forget how fast the sleeping elixir is."I said before I pass out. Cole brought my plate back where he got it before they ate and they also pass out from the sleeping elixir as well.

 

The Master and the Mistress enters. "Once Baxter is recovered we should do the drinking game again."Said the Mistress. "Sounds good. It looks like Cole wants to be a vampire as well."Said the Master as he checks us over. The Mistress nods her head in agreement.

 

It took me another three weeks before I am strong enough to stand and walk unaided. "I am glad I am to stand and walk." I said as I did some stretches. "Same here and here comes the guards." said Cole as he notices the guards entering the hut. "Line up and follow us."Said the guard. We did what he tells us to do. We follow them to the padded room.

 

I notice Cole is looking around the room. I also see the Mistress and the Master are there as well. They explain what is going on. Cole is shock to hear this but he kept quiet. I notice the drinks on the wall and we wait until the Master and Mistress tells us to start. "You can start drinking." said the Master to us. We walk over and grab the first drinks. "You are allowed to talk as well."Said the Mistress to us.

 

"The first ones are not that bad it is rest that does us in."I said to Cole as I start to drink. Cole looks at me as he starts as well. "We will tell you later."Said Cyan as he starts his drink. After we drank some drinks, I see the walls moving around, plus I hear the others mumbling as well. After another bunch of drinks, Cole has pass out from the drinks, the others are almost out cold. Somehow I managed to move Cole's body near the wall before everything going in and out of focus. After awhile the others are pass out from the drinks. I was able to drink two more before I pass out.
