 Chapter 4

The guards put Baxter and Xuan into a room, where the Mistress is. There is a vampire there as well. "Will these two work?"Asks The Mistress. "Yes, they will. They can be in this state as well, they need to drink my blood so they can change over. Once they do changeover they need some blood to stop their thirst. They will know how to do it once they are transformed."Said the Vampire to the Mistress. "Will they get any special powers?"Asks the Mistress to the Vampire. "No, they still can eat the regular food as well. They still need to drink blood as well. When they transform it will be painful for them. I would suggest keeping them separate from each other and the other males as well."Said the Vampire. "OK sounds good, they still can listen to you when they are in this state. I will leave you to it."Said the Mistress as she leaves.

 The Vampire looks over Xuan and Baxter. He pulls Xuan over to him, he cuts his wrist, and he helps Xuan with his wrist. "You need to drink and swallow."Said the Vampire Xuan does what he said. Once the vampire knows when he has enough he makes him stop drinking. He checks Xuan over and wipes Xuan's mouth. He motions the guards to take Xuan away. The guards do what the vampire wants and takes Xuan to a room. The vampire does the same thing to Baxter. After awhile the vampire is done and calls the guards to take Baxter to a room. The Mistress returns to the area. "How did it go?"She asks him. "Good, they will come around shortly. They might need more of my blood. I will leave you some in case they need more. After they transform they will need some fresh blood for a couple of days."Said the vampire. "OK, you can go now."Said the Mistress as the vampire leaves.

 She heads towards the viewing rooms where Baxter and Xuan are. The Master joins her. "Well?"He asks her. She tells him what the vampire did. "It will take awhile before they transform."Said the Mistress. "OK, we can watch them while they transform."Said the Master. "Yup, it looks like Xuan is coming around now."Said The Mistress as she notices Xuan moving. "Baxter will be shortly."Said the Master.

 "Baxter, can you hear me?"Xuan called out to me. "I can, what happen to us?"I asked Xuan as I stand up and noticed we are in different rooms. "I have no idea."Replies Xuan. "I think we went into that zombie elixir. Do you have a funny taste in your mouth?"I ask Xuan. "Yes, I do."Said Xuan as he stands up. We both starts to walk around the room. It reminds me when I first got here, at least I have some company. We talk about stuff for a couple of days when I felt a pain in my stomach. I notice Xuan curled up in the same pain. I can't tell what it feels like. The pain last for hours; once it has stopped, the Mistress notices that we are vampires now. "It looks like Baxter needs more of the vampire blood. She pours some into a cup and slides it under the door. "Baxter you need to drink the blood."Said the Mistress. I crawl to the cup and pick it up and drank it. I put the cup back down and I guess I passed out for a short time. I hear Xuan calling for some blood. I am starting to crave some blood as well. The Mistress and the Master notice this as well. They tell some guards to bring us some males that weren't following the rules. Once they are in there; both Xuan and I went to drink some blood from the males. We drank enough not to kill them but make them unconscious. We lay them on the ground and wipe our mouths off.

 "I want you both to listen here "Said the Mistress. We both look up and notice the Mistress and the Master standing there. "I don't want you attacking the other males at all, you are able to eat regular food, and we will supply the blood for both. You are able to still get the elixirs as well. Do you both understand?"The Mistress asks us. We both nods our heads yes. "Good, I am going to keep you here until you are used being a vampire. The guards will take away the males that you drank from don't attack them. They will bring you food and blood when you need it."Said The Master as they leave.

 "I never felt anything like that."Said Xuan. "I agree, the others will be surprised to see us like this. I hope we don't have to drink from them."I said. "I agree, my guess it will be Valin mostly."Said Xuan. "I agree, you don't look any different."I said to Xuan. "I agree expect for getting used to the teeth. I keep cutting myself with them."I said to Xuan. He nods his head in agreement. We both were in the rooms for two more days. "You are both are ready to go back to your hut, I am going to put you both in a trance so you won't attack the guards."Said the Mistress as she motions the guards to shoot us with the darts; we both went into the trance. The guards enter the room and tell us to follow them. We did what they said and we walk back to our hut. The guard open the door and motions us inside; we did what been asked and the guard closes the door and locks it.

 After awhile we both came out of the trance. "I guess the others are working now."I said as I notice the hut is empty. "I agree, I am going to have a nap, I still feel the elixir."Said Xuan as he lies down. "I agree."I said as I did the same thing. I guess we fallen asleep at the same time. Next thing I knew I heard the others are back. "We are awake."I said to Alex. "OK, what happen to you and Xuan?"Deon asks us. We told them what the Master and Mistress did to us. The others are shock to hear this. We showed them our teeth; also explained that we can't attack the guards or the other males unless they break the rules. "I have no idea what happens if we don't get the blood."I said. "We might attack the other males. That it my guess."Said Xuan as he explains that we still feel the elixirs as well. "It will get uses to seeing you both as vampires."Said Cyan. I nodded my head in agreement. The guards bring us food and blood for Xuan and myself; we ate all the food and Xuan and I drank the blood. "It will get used to seeing you drinking blood as well."Said Yakov. "I agree, I am thinking they will bring it at supper time."Said Xuan as he stands up. We all get into our area for the sleeping elixir.

 "This one has a scent to it."I said as I was able to smell a scent in the sleeping elixir. "This one is the stronger on. We us slay stay standing when we fall asleep."Said Deon. I notice the others are out cold from the elixir. I was amazed that they are still standing. I notice Xuan is falling asleep; I am staring to feel dizzy and lightheaded, after awhile we both black out, I guess they turn up the elixir to get Xuan and me sleeping. The guards enter the room to check us over. "It took Xuan and Baxter a bit longer to fall asleep."Said the guard to another one. "We better make sure they are asleep."Said the second guard as he uses a stick on Xuan and me. "There is no movement on them."Said the guard as he sees no movement at all. "That is good, we better check the others."Said the first guard as they leave.

 I guess we slept half of the morning away, I woke up and notice Xuan is awake but not the others. "Did we stand while we slept?" I asked Xuan. "I think so, sometimes we will collapse when the elixir starts or during the night."Said Xuan. "I don't think we are going to work today. The day is almost done."I said to Xuan. He nods his head in agreement as he notices the others are coming around. "I don't mind that elixir, but I wish I collapsed standing all night it is hard."Said Yakov. "I agree, once we move it will be better."Said Cyan as he starts to walk around the hut, the others and I did the same thing. "Do we wake up at the same time?"I ask them. "No, depends how fast the elixir takes effect."Said Alex.

 The guards brought us lunch. We grab our plates and starting to eat. After we are done eating we put the plates back and the guards take them away. "I notice they didn't bring your blood to you both."Said Deon. "I agree I wonder if the Master and the Mistress will only do it at supper time. I don't want to know what happens when we don't get the blood."I said. "I agree, I don't want to kill no one here."Said Xuan. Suddenly the alarms went off. I remember what to do from the last time. I stand near the back wall with the others. Some guards enter the hut. "Good he isn't here, if you see Valin and Xorn tell us."Said the guard as he leaves. I look at Alex and the others surprised that Valin escape with a male. After awhile we all hear screams from both males being taken away; then the alarms went off again.

 "Who is Xorn?"I asked Alex. "I have no idea, he must be a new male that arrived."Said Alex. "I remember there where two tried to escape when I arrive, he could be one of them."I said. "Could be, he might get a lighter sentence than Valin."Said Yakov. "Could be if he wasn't with Valin. He us sly blames it on the new male before he gets punishment."Said Deon. We kept talking until supper time. The guards brought us our supper but not the blood. After we ate and put the plates back we went back to the rear wall. "I hope that was supposed to happen."I said as I sit down. "Yeah, they brought it yesterday."Said Xuan as he sits down near me. "Do you need blood every day?"Asks Alex.

 "I don't know, I know I don't want to be without it for a week."Said Xuan. I nodded my head in agreement. We kept talking for awhile. "Do you think they will use the sleeping elixir tonight?"I ask Alex. "Yes, let's wait and see what happens to you and Xuan tomorrow."Said Alex as he goes to his spot. We all went into ours and everyone passed out at the same time. We all slept during the night, we had our breakfast and went to work did our job and came back. The guards brought supper but not the blood. "I wonder if they are forgetting on propose, I am starting to feel a bit strange."I said. "Same here, I wouldn't stand close to us in case we do something we can't control."Said Xuan. "I agree, I wonder if you and Baxter are supposed to do something to Valin."Said Deon. "Hard to say, right now I can smell blood near me."I said as I stay away from the others.

 The guards enter the hut notices Xuan and I trying not to attack the others. "You two better stay there, I am going to put you into a trance so you won't attack us."Said the guard as he takes his dart gun and shoots us. The last thing I saw was a relief from Alex's face and everything went in a fuzzy haze. It didn't take Xuan in the same state as well. "Follow us."Said the guard as he leads us away. He leads us to a room where they allow the trance elixir to leave our system. I look at Xuan to see how he is doing and notice we are in different rooms but we can still see each other. He motions with his head upwards. I look and notice the Mistress and the Master standing there. "You are probably wondering why we kept the blood from you both."Asks the Master. We both nodded at the same time. Trying not to move cause of the smell of the blood. "You can tell by the escape from Valin and Xorn yesterday they must be punished. This is Xorn second time trying to escape, I have lost how many times Valin did. You will able to drink from them, without killing them."Said the Master.

 "They will try to escape from you or they maybe faint, Xuan you will have Xorn; Baxter you will have Valin. You can do anything to them as you wish, you can talk it over with each other before we bring them in."Said the Mistress. We both nodded to her as she leaves. "I know I don't want to kill them, they are still human beings, if we can scare Xorn for not escaping again he might stay. I know everyone is being treated like this, I know I didn't want to die."I said to Xuan. "I agree, but with Valin anything we do he might still keep doing it. I think we can keep him unconscious longer than Xorn."I said to Xuan as I explain what I have in mind. "Are we able to do it; without making him into a vampire?"Xuan asks me. I explained the weird dreams I been having. "I have been the same dreams as well. Let's do it. You should go first, that might scare Xorn a little bit. I know I still need blood to drink."Said Xuan. "Good, let's do it."I said.

 Few minutes the Mistress returns. "Have you decided what you are doing?" She asks us. "Yes, we do."I replied. "You don't need to tell me what you planned I am going to watch."Said the Mistress as she sends the guards to get Xorn and Valin. While they are fetching them we moved back into the shadows to wait for the guards. After awhile the guards pushes them in our rooms. We let them get up and look around. I notice Xuan nodded to me to start. I walk behind Valin and grab him while I was doing this Xorn turns around and sees what I am doing. He is too scared to say anything as I bite down on Valin's neck and starts to drink his blood. I was able to drink my full and some. I felt Valin pass out from me drinking, I made sure he is still alive but in a coma; I lay Valin down and I stood up and wipe my mouth. I notice Xuan sneaking behind Xorn and drinking from him. I recognize Xorn when I arrive here he is the one who tried to escape when we got the metal bracelets. I notice his eyes are starting to close as he passes out. "Are they alive?" Asks the Mistress. "Yes, Valin will be in a coma for two weeks. Once he is awake he will be weak for awhile."I said to the Mistress. "Xorn will be out for day or so. He will be weak but like Valin."Said Xuan. "Good, the guards will bring you back to your hut, without being in the trance."Said the Mistress as she motions the guards to lead us back to our hut. Once inside they close and lock the door.

 "You both don't look scary anymore."Said Deon. "Thanks, I didn't like that feeling at all."I said. "Same here, but I have a feeling we might again."Said Xuan. I nodded my head in agreement. "What did you have to do?" Cyan asks us. We tell them what we did. "Xorn is one of the males that tried to escape when I brought here. I guess the Master and Mistress put him with Valin's hut."I said to the others. "You had to drink from them?"Deon asks us. "Yes, I didn't enjoy doing it but we had no choice to do. I had Valin and I was able to put him in a coma for two weeks, plus he will be very weak as well."I said. "I had Xorn, he will be out for day or so."Said Xuan.

 "I am hoping we are the last resources to scare the males that try to escape."I said as I lay down. "I agree, after all the blood I drank I am sleepy."Said Xuan as he lies down and goes to sleep. I guess I have fallen asleep as well. Alex checks us over and notices we are in a deep sleep. The door opens and the guards enter. "The three of you come with us, they can sleep for awhile."Said the guard as they take Alex and the others away. I guess we slept for awhile before I woke up. I got up and notice Alex and the others are not there. I see Xuan waking up, he stands up and he also notices the others are gone. "I guess they taken them to go to work."Said Xuan. "I agree, I guess drinking that much blood makes us sleepy."I said. "I agree as well."Xuan said as we move around to get the kinks out of our legs. After awhile Alex and the others return. They see we are awake. "We had to full the tunnel we been working, no more jewels. Tomorrow we are starting a new one."Said Alex as he sits down.

 "It must be hard to full the tunnels up once they were digging."I said. "It is, when we have to do it everyone works together. During lunch Valin's roommates are shock what they saw of Valin and Xorn. They said the Mistress didn't say what cause them to be unconscious."Said Cyan. "I guess the Master and Mistress are keeping it a secret. Xuan I have figured out how to hide the vampire teeth."I said to Xuan as I show him how I was able to hide the teeth. Xuan is amazed at this and he tries it as well; he is able to do the same thing as well. "That is good, we shouldn't say you are vampires at all; we all already talk to the Mistress and the Master to keep it a secret as well. If we say anything we will be your next meal, we all agree to keep it a secret."Said Yakov. I was shocked to hear that but glad that will keep it a secret.

 Nothing really happen during the first day of the new tunnel. I did see Xorn back, he is still scared and he doesn't remember what Xuan did to him or what I did to Valin. I was working near the new side tunnels when I felt the ground move a little bit, I had a quick look at the ground and there wasn't anything wrong with it. I continue to work until the ground gave away from under my feet. I managed to roll to a stop. I sat up and look around before I got up; that didn't work once I stood on my left foot I went right back down, I guess I twisted my left foot when I fell. I didn't know if I should call or keep quiet. I hear the guards yelling at the other males to get back to work. I hear a siren go off and the Master voice saying something. All I heard was "Baxter if you still here call out, if you don't your roommates will get the punishment. "I am here, the ground where I am working on collapsed under my feet. There is a cavern here; that goes to different ways. I have twisted my ankle so I can't walk anywhere."I call up thru the hole. I see some torches near the hole when someone was getting near the ground were giving away. "Be careful when you are walking near the hole the ground is giving way."I called out.

 "Do you see another way out or somewhere where we can climb down?"Alex calls to me. "Yes."I called as I describe where I notice a higher ground. "Are you able to walk?" Alex called to me. "No, I will crawl to where I am able to."I called back. "OK, start now and someone will meet you there."Said Alex. "How far is this place where Baxter told you?"The Master asks Alex. Alex tells him where it is. "Are you able to dig it?"The Master asks him "Yes, it will be."Said Alex as he grabs some tools. The Master points to other males to help Alex to dig at the spot. I have notice some jewels lying on the ground I was able to make a bag out of some scraps of cloth that I saw laying around. I crawled where I was able to and I sat down to wait. After two hours I hear Alex and another male calling me. "I am over here."I called to them. "Are you OK?"Asks Alex. "Yes, once I am out of the cavern."I said as Alex and the other male help me get up and walk. Once we are near the opening other males help me out of the hole. I gave the Master the cloth bag. He looks at it puzzle. "Something I saw."I said as Alex and the other male help me walk to the Doctor's area.

 Once there the Doctor motions them to put in the chair. "You two can wait, I will tell the guards to tell the Master that you are still here."Said the Doctor to Alex and the other guy. They both nod their heads as they walk outside. "What happen to you?"He asks me. I tell him what happen. He takes off my shoe; I made a face when he touches my ankle. Then he checks it over. "It isn't broken, it is sprained badly. You can't work until it is better. Stay off it as well. I will inform the Master and the Mistress about it. I will give you a shot to numb the pain."Said the Doctor as he gives me a pain medicine in a needle. It worked fast, but I could tell it is still painful on the size of my ankle. The Doctor motions Alex and the other guy to help me walk to our hut, they help me sit on the ground. The guard motions the other guy to leave so he can go back his hut.

 "What did the Doctor said?"Asks Alex to me. "I sprained my ankle, I won't able to work until it heals, and he will inform the Master and Mistress."I said. "I never saw a hole that big before."Said Alex. "The ground will get weak after some time. Or it always been there and no one knew about it. There are so many different kinds of tunnels there and jewels as well."I said. "Is that what you gave the Master?"Alex asks me. "Yes, I didn't dare to keep it, I didn't want to be punished at all."I said. The door opens and the Master enters the hut. "The Doctor told me that you can't work until your foot is better."Said the Master. I nodded my head. "I want you to draw what you saw in the cavern and what you saw as well. Is there any more of the jewels?" He asks me. I nodded my head again. "You can speak."Said the Master. "I can draw what I saw and far I saw as well. There are tons of jewels there. In rainbow colored as well."I said. "OK, once you are better you and your roommates are going to explore it. I want to know everything about it."The Master said. Both Alex and I were surprised at this. "It probably will take awhile depends how far the tunnels go."I said. "There will be guard with you as well, so don't try to escape either."Said the Master. We both nodded to understand what he is saying. "You will also be fitted to explore as well."Said the Master as he leaves. "We better keep this to our self's I am sure the other male will as well or they will make him forget."Said Alex. "I am surprised they are letting us do the exploring."I said. "Same here, I am happy it isn't Valin."Said Alex. "I agree, he is still in the coma. It will be in another week before he wakes up."I said.

 Few minutes later the others arrive back. "Are you Ok Baxter?"Asks Cyan. "Yes, it just a sprained ankle."I said and I told what the Doctor said. "OK, the Master talk to us about our job is when you are able to work again. He want is kept secret, he gave the other guy that help you the forgetful elixir, so he won't remember anything until we are done with the exploring."Said Deon. "I thought he would do that to him."Said Alex as some guards brought our food and blood. Alex brought mine over so I am able to eat and drink. After we are done Alex got my stuff and brings it where the others are. "Whoa, I am getting a bit sleepy." I said as I am having trouble keeping my eyes open. "You must get it in the food, don't fight it."Said Cyan as I pass out. They moved me to a comfortable position before they fallen asleep as well.

 Alex woke up same with the others, they notice I was unconscious still. "I guess they put him in a longer one for the pain."Said Deon. "Could be, the Master wants him to draw what he saw down there."Said Alex. After awhile I woke up in daze. "Take it easy, that sleeping elixir will take time to leave your system."Said Yakov. I hear the door opening and footsteps and the door closing. "Baxter, I am going to help you to drink the blood, it probably will help with the sleeping elixir."Said Xuan as he brought the blood over to me. Alex and Deon help me to sit up as Xuan holds the glass to my mouth. I drank without spilling a drop; once I am done, I can feel the elixirs leaving my system. "I never felt that sleepy before."I said as I sit up straighter. "That one works a bit faster than the other one. "How is your ankle?" Alex asks me. "Sore, I can ignore the pain. Is there anything I can draw with?"I ask them. "Yes, the guard brought you paper and pencil."Said Xuan as he brought the items to me.

 "Why are you not working?"I ask them as I notice they didn't go to work. "No one is until the hole is fixed or after we explore the cavern."Said Xuan. "Or they will work in a different area or something else."Said Alex. "Could be."Said Yakov. I start to draw the cavern what I remember and the tunnels I saw and the jewels and bones as well. I look at my drawing to make sure I got everything I saw. "There that is all I can remember."I said to the others. "That is good and very details too. I didn't really saw anything when I went down there."Said Alex. The door opens and a guard enters the room. "The Master is wondering if the map is ready for him."Asks the guard. "It is, I detailed what I saw and list the jewels as well."I said to the guard. "Good, the Master will be pleased."Said the guard as he takes the map and the pencil with him.

 I won't go into details for the past two days when I was stuck in the hut with a sprained ankle. The others kept me inform what is going on at the work place. Once they are back we talk about things. "I think there will be new rules coming soon, we all have to retake them. We do it the same way as before."Said Alex. "That means back into the zombie trance?"I asked them. "Yes, same as before. The redo the first ones before they put in the new ones. We do a hut at a time."Said Cyan. "Make sense with new tunnels or other stuff going on they have to make new rules."I said.

 "How is your ankle?"Deon asks me. "Good, the Doctor was here and I am able to put my weight on it."I said. "That is good, we are going to the first ones doing the rules, and after we recover we are going to explore the cavern while the others are recovering."Said Yakov. "They won't be asking questions where we are going and doing what."I said. "Yup, it will be a change for doing our normal job."Said Xuan. "They will do Valin later when he is up and a bit stronger."Said Deon. "Do they put in a trance to get to get to the room?"I ask them. "No, it might have side effects on the ones they use. "Said Alex. We talk about stuff and ideas what we could find in the cavern. The door opens and we saw the guards. "It is time for the refresh of the rules and guidelines. Line up and follows us."Said the guard to us. We did what he asked of us. We followed the guard. I didn't dare to remember the route to the room at all, I knew it will be useless. Once we got there they made us sit in the chairs. They strapped us in and put in and hooked the IV's; someone told us what is going on a started the IV"S. I felt the elixir going through me as I watch the screen. It took a bit longer than first time. I notice the others are gone into the trance and they left the room; after awhile I went in into the trance. A guard notices and takes out the IV and unstrapped me. "Follow me."He said as I got up and follows the guard to the room. "Repeat the rules to me."He said. I did repeat the rules without missing any. "He is ready for the zombie elixir."I heard a male said as I felt a needle into my arm; everything went fuzzy when my eyes rolled up. The guards notice this and help me to the hut. Once there they use the knock out elixir on me and everything went black.
